Car Shows & Cruises

Following is a listing of area cruise nights and car shows. To submit a listing, please send via e-mail to Mike Schaffer at schaffer@heritage.com.

Weather permitting, most cruise events begin at 4 p.m. and run until dusk. Many clubs provide disc jockey entertainment and present trophies, awards and other prizes.

 

CRUISE NIGHTS

 

MONDAYS

5th annual Classic Car Show, presented by Livonia Church of Christ, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 8 at Livonia Church of Christ, 15431 Merriman Road, just north of 5 Mile Road, Livonia. Rain or shine.

Entry fee of $15 includes meal ticket. Judging from noon to 2 p.m. followed by trophy presentation at 3 p.m.

Draggin’ Detroit, dB Drag Racing Bass Race, presented by HiFi Connection of Commerce, 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 9 at Gibraltar Trade Center, 15525 Racho Road at Eureka Road, Taylor.

Hear up to 300 cars compete in only dB international loud stereo competition scheduled for Michigan.  Entry fee is $20 per car.  Free for spectators.

Downtown Trenton Car Show, hosted by the Downriver Wanderers, 3 to 10 p.m. July 15, Trenton.

Monroe Cancer Connection Benefit Car Show, presented by the Monroe Good Time Cruisers, noon to 4 p.m. with registration beginning at 10 a.m. July 22 at Horizon Outlet Center, 14500 LaPlaisance Road at exit 11 off I-75, Monroe Township.

Goody bags and dash plaques to the first 100 cars registered. Three trophies to be awarded per 10-year span. Craft show, bake sale and swap meet available.

Day of show registration is $12.  Advance registration through July 8 is $10 and can be sent to Monroe Good Time Cruisers, 2588 Nadeau Road, Monroe, MI 48162.

 

2006 Fiero Festival, Fieros at the Hall, presented by the Michigan Fiero Club, July 22 at Automotive Hall of Fame, 21400 Oakwood Blvd., Dearborn.

Second annual Cruizin’ Telegraph, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. July 29 on Telegraph Road. Cruise route will be between Five Mile and Eureka roads through Detroit, Dearborn, Dearborn Heights, Redford Township and Taylor.

Cruisin’ Dearborn, presented by the Dearborn Chamber of Commerce, 6:45 p.m. Aug. 4 from Dearborn Police headquarters to Dearborn’s Ford Field. Cruise will last about 30 minutes followed by a car show at the Dearborn Homecoming festival.

Cruise is only open to first 200 cars that register for this free event. Car owners may register by visiting www.dearbornchamber.org or www.cityofdearborn.org or by picking up a registration form at the Department of Public Information at Dearborn City Hall, 13615 Michigan Ave., or the Dearborn Chamber of Commerce, 15544 Michigan Ave.

 

Fifth annual Wheels of Time Classic Car Show, to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 6 at Huroc Park on the river off Huron River Drive in Flat Rock. Rain date is Aug. 13.

Registration of $20 per car begins at 8 a.m. day of show. Advance registration of $15 can be made before July 28 at Wheels of Time weekly cruise nights on Mondays at the Big Boy Restaurant, 27050 Telegraph Road, Flat Rock. Dash plaques presented to first 150 registered vehicles.

Trophies, raffle auction, door prizes, 50-50 raffles and disc jockey entertainment available.

All makes and models welcome to compete in variety of classes. A trophy will also be awarded to the most unique vehicle entered.

8th annual Charity Car Show, hosted by C.C. Reeves Chapter Order of DeMolay, 5 to 9 p.m. Aug. 8 at Lincoln Park Community Center, corner of Dix and Gregory roads, Lincoln Park.

Registration is $12 per car. Proceeds to benefit Shriners Hospital Transportation Fund for children. Dash plaques to the first 75 cars registered.

Trophies, door prizes, entertainment, food and beverages will be available.

Roam’n Chariots Hospice Benefit Show, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 12 at Brownstown Township Civic Center (Thorn Park), 21313 Telegraph Road, south of King Road.

Registration is 10 a.m. to noon. Registration fee is $8 in advance by Aug. 6 or $10 at the gate.  Proceeds to be donated to hospice.

Trophies, door prizes, raffle, auction and 50-50 raffles.  Dash plaques to the first 100 participants.  Free admission to the Steelworkers picnic. Horseshoe tournament, children’s games, prizes and more. Food available.

20th annual Motor City All-Family AMC Meet, presented by The Great Lakes Classic AMC Club, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 20 at Greenmead Historical Park, Livonia.

Second annual Riverview Community of Christ Car Show, Aug. 27 at Community of Christ 14601 Pennsylvania Road, Riverview.

Registration from 8:30 to 11 a.m. and noon to 1 p.m., followed by judging noon to 4 p.m. and trophy presentation at 4 p.m.  Free pancake breakfast for registrants between 8:30 and 11 a.m.

Live music, bake sale, moonwalk, face painting, free coffee, silent auction, hot lunch and more is available.
