Cruise News: Riverview

For the third year in a row, Cruisin’ Downriver will bring the rumbling of classic cars to Fort Street, and for the third year in a row, Riverview will be right in the middle of the action.

Cruisin’ Downriver activities in Riverview will kick off at 1 p.m. Friday with a classic car rally at Young Patriots’ Park.

The car show will continue until 9 p.m.

One of Berry Gordy’s original acts, The Contours, will bring a little Motown sound to the park from 7:30 to 9 p.m.

Best known for the song, "Do You Love Me," the band has been in the business for 43 years and has sold more than 30 million records.

The city will set up booths and displays Saturday at Riverview Commons shopping center on the southeast corner of Fort and Sibley.

Legend, The Band, will perform at 2 p.m. and the Downriver Daddy-O’s will perform at 7 p.m.

Aside from the two bands, there will be games and a Moonwalk for the kids, as well as official cruise merchandise for sale.

WOMC will also broadcast live from 10 a.m. until noon.
